Fort Collins (CO) - Hewlett-Packard is turning up the heat on the Blu-ray Disc Association, of which HP is a member, to consider and adopt its two requests for changes to its proposed specifications for next-generation video discs. In an exclusive interview with TG Daily, HP's representative to the BDA told us that if the BDA is unwilling to consider adopting mandatory managed copy and the iHD interactive layer, the company is prepared to change its official support stance to neutral, and join the HD DVD Promotions Group.

Burbank (CA) - In an interview today with TG Daily, Warner Home Video senior vice president for marketing management, Steve Nickerson, told us his company would support a motion by fellow Blu-ray Disc Association member Hewlett-Packard to adopt iHD as the interactive program format for BD discs, either in addition to or in place of the currently supported BD-Java.

The battle over what format will dominate when high-definition DVDs hit the market next year heated up on Friday after computer maker Hewlett-Packard said it will support the HD-DVD format backed by Toshiba in addition to the rival Blu-ray format.
