>> Commodore4eva, the guy that released the firmware hack for the Toshiba-Samsung H943 Xbox 360 DVD drive now posted on the xboxhacker.net forums that he will soon release a similar modified firmware for the Hitachi-LG GDR-3120L DVD drive:I have just rec an Hitachi 47DH drive and have commenced work on the Firmware. I will post again when completed. Hang in there Hitachi owners it shouldn't take too long.
Our server is currently down due the huge amount of hits we received yesterday. We will move to more powerful servers and we hope to be back online tomorrow.
The Devil360 will be a modchip for the Xbox 360 console, the 'small' security hole has been found! This device is in no way related to the DVD firmware exploits - it's a totally different approach.
However we did not manage to get the product ready for today (6/6/6), because we are working hard on improving it to:
* Try to protect it from any type of update
* Make it programmable via PC
* Boot unsigned code
* Allow to swap HD with larger drive with a special interface between the 360 and the HD (all types IDE/SATA).
* And more...
We understand, certainly after the ICE modchip story, that people will not easily believe this so we will send prototypes to some scene sites as soon as they are ready, so they can confirm it's real.
The modchip will be sold without any code.
We also discovered some shops already take pre-orders for this product. Do not pre-order it!
We did not announce any distributors yet and the device will not go on pre-order until at least after the prototypes have been tested/reviewed by independent sites.
Devil Mod 360 and Devil360 ...peut-être que si y choisissait des noms un peu moins parrait le monde seraient moins confu! gang de caves!There seems to be some confusion on the net, the guys at grmods.com (known for some PS2 modchip and Xbox gen3b and cheapmod-based chips) today released images on their forums of a Dual DVD Firmware chip they are working on for the Xbox 360.
This product by grmods called 'Devil Mod 360' is not to be confused with the 'Devil360 modchip' announced yesterday. These are 2 totally different teams.
This Devil Mod 360 is another 'dual-firmare' mod for the TS-H943A Xbox 360 DVD drive. It's a PCB with a flash in a socket and solderpads to connect to the alternative points of the DVD firmware chip (as the chip itself is in epoxy). There's also a switch so you can easily switch between the original DVD firmware and the one on the 'Devil Mod 360'
A new version of Connect360(info) has been released, it's a tool to stream your music and images from your Mac OSX to your Xbox 360 console.
YEAH!The firmware is 99% complete and just requires one more routine to test when I get back home. I will then port the 47 code over to the 46 version. This will be released within 48 hours time.
It will not require a full firmware update, only a few banks. You will not be required to save/inject your drive key but saving a copy is always best. The checksum will be set to zero for the firmware. Since I dont have a 46 drive you people will have to test and report. I will then look at the 59 version firmware. I have only been spending one hour a night due to real life and have been away for the past three days so please be patient. Assembling with a hex editor is not fun but it gets the job done.
We are probably gonna see lots of devices like this one in the coming weeks and months as it's very easy technology (like a cheapmod for the xbox1), so anyone can make it ... all you need are the parts.The 1st Dual Firmware Add-On, compatible with both Toshiba-Samsung and Hitachi-LG drives of XBOX360!

Flashing your drive:
xtreme.bat automatically makes a backup of your dvd drive firmware called orig.bin.
Plug SATA cable from DVD drive to PC. Power cable drive still connected to Xbox 360
Ensure Hitachi drive is in mode b either by two wire trick or slax linux boot cd
Go to Windows
Run xtreme.bat batch file from a dos prompt specifing drive letter eg "xtreme.bat g"
All done!
Run restore.bat to revert to original firmware eg "restore.bat g"
Thanks to everyone at Xboxhacker.net for all their discussions. Thanks go to Seventhson for flashsec and memdump and Loser for firmcrypt, without these tools this would not be possible.
Hitachi drive seems to be less tolerant of dual layer media. Try a few times to boot a backup.
Firmware for 46 version will be released soon but I cannot test it. Code is offset slightly throughout the firmware.
