Pennsylvania based rock band Live may have begun to fade from the spotlight over the years, but they are shining brighter than ever to fans overseas, especially in Brazil, where the band will film a full length concert to be released on DVD next year.

After a whirlwind of multi-platinum selling albums in the 90’s, Live has taken a much lower profile. Their most notable recent appearance was a performance with Chris Daughtry on "American Idol" in May 2006.

Much of Live's acclaim these days comes from overseas, particularly South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and several countries in Europe — especially Holland.

"Why are we so popular in Holland? That's the million-dollar question. It's so beautiful that it's almost something I don't want to know the answer to," front man Ed Kowalczyk said. "For some reason, though, [the Dutch] are just terribly interested in what we're doing, and for that we're very grateful."

While they enjoyed their days of playing on "Saturday Night Live" and their own MTV "Unplugged" segments, Kowalczyk seems more than comfortable, and almost happy being out of the US spotlight.

“The lessening of the spotlight has helped me as a writer. Those subliminal pressures are gone. We have a fan base that is able to go with the flow and not have to be impressed. They're waiting for me to be me. That's a beautiful thing.”

In fact, Kowalczyk feels that is actually a better band now than they were in the heyday.

“You look at the usual trajectory of a band and you would say they peaked when they were selling the most records. That's not the case with us. We're still playing all over the world and deepened our own chemistry. We have more confidence. Now that the spotlight is not so glaring, in some ways it's better.”

Live is expected to release details of their upcoming summer tour soon, along with details of the DVD coming likely early next year.
