Des nouvelles de AMD

J'ai lu 2 articles intéressant sur AMD dernièrement que je voulais vous partager...

Premièrement pour ceux qui voudraient changer de pc ya eu un huge price drop...je sais que Jeff veux changer son 3800+ pour un gros X2 là suite au changement de prix :

A dual-core processor for $73? Not a problem over at AMD. The company has published yet another dramatic top-to-bottom price cut for its desktop processor line-up, which now tops out at just $241 for a 3 GHz dual-core chip in the high-end mainstream segment.

On a closer look, the X2 6000+, which carries a TG Daily performance index of 1.92 , had a tray price of $464 until yesterday. The new price is $241. The average U.S. retail price followed the price without delay, dropping from $449 last Friday to $241 today, according to Pricegrabber.com. We found one online shop that is offering the CPU for $229. In comparison, the Core 2 Duo E6600 (TG Daily performance index 1.94) has a tray price of $316 and currently averages $307 in U.S. retail.

On regardait les prix sur le site de microbytes et ca commence à être pas mal abordable...


Dans un deuxième temps une mauvaise nouvelle...

Yesterday, AMD issued a surprising revenue warning and said that especially the resale channel turned sour during Q1. Today, TG Daily learned that AMD’s market share in U.S. desktop retail dropped significantly and handed the majority of the market - which AMD had held for five subsequent quarters - to its rival. Is AMD in trouble?

Ca vaut la peine de lire au complet pour vori que ya p-e eu des problème pour fournir les cpu dans le temps de Noel et non pas parce que les acheteurs boudent AMD...d'ailleur a job on commence à en acheter, un 3500+ c'est pas cher pi c'est pas mal bon pour les secrétaires...

Tk moi je garde foi, AMD va remonter la pente.....si AMD venait qu'à disparaitre un jour c'est les consommateurs qui subiraient les conséquences....mais on est loin d'être là!

Ouin... je check plus ça assez pour pouvoir avoir une bonne opinion, mais il me semble que AMD baisse souvent et de bcp ses prix, par rapport à Intel...

Est-ce qu'il se fait pwner tant que ça dans les ventes? Je check pu ben ben les benchmark :\

Amd avait innover avec le X2 mais depuis que Intel a le core2 duo dans les laptop et desktop amd a rien sorti.. ya meme le core2 quad qui est sorti et encore AMD est en retard.. Habituellement c'est AMD qui innove et Intel qui suit... alors les prices baisse pour permettre au monde de ce dire.. " je paye 100$ de moins pour un processeur qui est un peu moins bon" c'est leur idee pour l'instant... la y va avoir le 4x4 (si ye pas deja sorti) mais c'est pas le meilleur des meilleurs.. go AMD do soemthing good now

There are lots of question marks surrounding AMD’s first quad-core CPU, the Barcelona server/workstation processor. How fast will it be and - most importantly - will it be able to outpace Intel’s quad-core Xeon 5300-series (“Clovertown”) processors. It will, says AMD, and in fact upgraded its performance expectations.

So far, we the company had claimed that Barcelona will surpass the performance of Clovertown by about 40% at any given clock speed. Now the company says that it believes that Barcelona will have a 50% advantage over Clovertown in floating point applications and 20% in integer performance “over the competition’s highest-performing quad-core processor at the same frequency.”

AMD did not release the specific clock speeds of Barcelona. Intel’s Clovertown currently tops out at 2.66 GHz, but the company has begun supplying limited numbers of 3.0 GHz server quad-core processors.

AMD also announced the new dual-core Opteron models 2222 SE and 8222 SE, which somewhat had been announced already at the beginning of this month: AMD claims that the new 3.0 GHz Opterons beat comparable Intel Xeon 5100 series processors in three server-specific benchmarks (SPECint_rate_2006, SPECint_rate2006, SPECompM2001) by up to 24%.

The 2222 SE is available for a tray price of $873, the 8222 SE is priced at $2149. Intel’s 3.0 GHz Xeon 5160 processor currently sells for $851

En gros AMD annonce que leur quad core va rapper celui de Intel....on va attendre que ca soit sorti pour crier victoire mais ca semble une bonne réplique pour reprendre le marché....

J'attends les bench mais bon c'est toujours une course poursuite et il sortent chacun leur tour un produit plus rapide que l'autre. Des fois ca prends un peu plus de temps, des fois ca va vite.

Ce qui est inquietant, c'est les résultats financier d'AMD, j'espere qu'ils vont s'en sortir mieux au prochain trimestre.
