Un lecteur HD-DVD ce mois ci?

Earlier this week we learned that Sony will be launching its Blu-ray format at the end of May; the competing HD DVD camp today announced that it will beat that mark by about two months. There will be slightly more choice in hardware but it is unknown which and HD DVDs movies will be offered at launch.

ouin mais les blu-ray sortent en mai seulement...je sais pas ce qui va avoir en hd-dvd mais c cave..tant qu'un des deux format aura pas prit le dessus ca reste un guess d'investir dans ca....anyway on a pas de tv hd (sauf une certaine bich) fac ca flute a bec rien pour nous d'avoir ca ....let's wait....

Moi je miserais sur HD-DVD, surtout depuis que Microsoft a choisi.

Microsoft a tjrs été du coté de HD-DVD mais yont quand meme dit qu'ils envisageaient de mettre un lecteur blu-ray sur le 360 si jamais le blu-ray prend le dessus...yont aussi une entente avec une compagnie jpense pour les blu-ray (pi sony en a faite une en investissant dans une compagnie avec un fabricant de hd-dvd)...mais la jpas capable de loader la page de THG fac je peux pas appuyer mes dires avec des beau link...

Tk je suis ca depuis le debut et je penche pour le blu-ray mais très légèrement...

While Sony maintains its support for Blu-ray and the company cannot be expected to change its position in the foreseeable future, the company has laid the foundation to have access to the competing HD-DVD format as well. An optical disc drive joint-venture with NEC, one of the leading developers of such drives, could become a safety net for Sony - just in case Blu-ray fails.

Sony representatives did not return our inquiries, whether Sony will be actually marketing and selling HD-DVD drives. However, we can speculate, that Sony may have similar intentions with Sony NEC Optiarc as does Toshiba with TSST, in which Toshiba holds a 51% share. Last month a Toshiba spokeswoman told us that "at this moment Toshiba has no commercialization plan of Blu-ray products."

While both Sony and Toshiba have not left the HD disc battlefield and maintain their support for their respective technology, both companies appear to be covering their bases at this time.
